Full review. A superb general-purpose lens, Canon’s EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM is equally at home on the EOS 400D and the ‘full frame’ EOS 5D cameras, giving a focal length range equivalent to 38.4 to 168mm on the former. Compact for its specifications, it is relatively light and comfortable to use as well as being very well built.
Each lens was tested using a Canon EOS-5D body. The serial numbers of the 24-105mm, 24-70mm and 17-40mm lenses tested were 305841, 54788 and 338244. Note: Some early versions of the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM suffered from an internal flare problem. This has been identified and Canon is offering repairs free of charge for affected models.

I need to buy a general purpose zoom lens and i need to decide between this two lenses, Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM II or Canon EF 24–105mm f/4L IS II. Taking in consideration that i was planing to buy Canon 35mm 1.4 ii, and now i think i might replace it with the Canon 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM II.
Get the f/4L if you want f/4, L-build w/weather sealing, focus distance scale, and aren't as concerned with silent AF in LiveView/Video. Otherwise I expect the new lens to sell for less and be very good, a la the 18-135 STM which it very much resembles.
has built-in optical image stabilization. Canon EF 24-105mm F/4L IS USM. Canon EF-S 18-135mm F/3.5-5.6 IS STM. Optical image stabilization uses gyroscopic sensors to detect the vibrations of the camera. The lens adjusts the optical path accordingly, ensuring that any type of motion blur is corrected before the sensor captures the image.
Re: Canon EOS 90D + EF 24-105mm f/4L IS I USM In reply to Cmonster2000 • May 14, 2020 On Full Frame DSLR's can be soft (especially for 100% pixel peepers), but overall with a APS-C Sensor DSLR does well as the APS-C sensor is using the central area (sweet spot) of full frame lens' image circle.
Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM. The best RF standard zoom for quality, versatility and cost-effectiveness. Specifications. Effective zoom range: 24-105mm. Lens construction: 18 elements in 14 groups. No. of diaphragm blades: 9 blades. Minimum focus distance: 0.45m.
The Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM is a real walk-around general purpose zoom. Not to big, not to heavy, IS, very nice reach and good IQ. I like it more than the 24-70 F2.8L, witch is big and no IS. I bought this zoom when it came out ans still you it with lots of pleasure. Second hand you can buy it real cheap.
